Kwan Um School of Zen
The Kwan Um School of Zen is an international school of Zen under the guidance of its founder
Zen Master Seung Sahn - also known as Dae Soen Sa Nim ('Dae' is a Korean title of respect).
He is the 78th Patriarch in the Korean Buddhist Order of Chogye-Zen.
The Polish School has been functioning for over twenty years. We have Zen Centres and Zen Groups
throughout Poland where our members can formally practice our School's style of Zen, which is the
Teaching of Dae Soen Sa Nim consisting of zen sitting, chanting, bowing and personal interviews
with our Teachers (kong-an teaching). Some of our Centres are residential where a training program
is offered so one can experience zen on a daily basis as well as monthly weekend retreats - Yong Man Jon Jin.
Dae Soen Sa Nim teaches us that Zen is the Great Question we must ask ourselves.Who am I?
What is my 'I'? What is the sense of my life? He teaches us how to really help others.
What is our correct function and direction in life? His most famous teaching is "Don't know",
Which is our mind before thinking. So what does "Don't know" mean?
